About the Role
Firefly HR is working exclusively with a highly regarded community-based OSHC service on Sydney's Lower North Shore to recruit its next Director.

This is a rare opportunity to lead a large, well-established service where the foundations are already strong. With an experienced leadership team, supportive governance structure and positive workplace culture, this role offers the opportunity to focus on leading people, maintaining quality and continuing the service's ongoing development.

The Director is responsible for the overall leadership and operation of the service, ensuring high-quality outcomes for children, families and educators while maintaining compliance with the National Quality Framework.

Key responsibilities include:
  • Leading the day-to-day operations of a large OSHC service operating across multiple environments
  • Acting as Nominated Supervisor and ensuring compliance with the NQF, National Regulations and Family Assistance Law
  • Managing enrolments, administration and service operations
  • Leading recruitment, induction, performance development and rostering processes
  • Maintaining policies, procedures and quality improvement systems
  • Coordinating vacation care planning and service delivery
  • Supporting inclusion practices and collaborating with external support providers
  • Preparing reports and operational updates for the Parent Management Committee
  • Building strong relationships with children, families, educators, committee members and school stakeholders

About the Service
This confidential opportunity is with a large Parent Management Committee governed OSHC service located on Sydney's Lower North Shore.

The service provides before school care, after school care and vacation care programs and supports a large and engaged community of children and families.

The service operates from well-resourced environments designed to support different age groups and program needs. Established systems, strong utilisation and experienced educators contribute to a stable and well-functioning operation.

The service is supported by an established leadership team and experienced educators who contribute to a positive, collaborative workplace culture. Strong relationships have been built with both the governing committee and the local school community, creating a supportive environment for the successful candidate.

About You
You are an experienced leader who enjoys building relationships, solving problems and supporting others to succeed.

You can confidently balance the operational, compliance and people leadership aspects of a large service while remaining approachable, organised and solutions-focused. You are comfortable navigating competing priorities, adapting when needed and making sound decisions in the best interests of children, families and the team.

To be successful, you will bring:
  • Experience as an OSHC Director, Service Director, Area Manager, Operations Manager or similar leadership role within education and care
  • Strong knowledge of the National Quality Framework, National Regulations and Family Assistance Law
  • Experience leading teams, managing performance and building positive workplace culture
  • Demonstrated experience overseeing compliance, quality improvement and service operations
  • Excellent organisational, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
  • A relevant approved qualification for a Director or Nominated Supervisor role
  • Current Working With Children Check
  • Current First Aid, CPR, Asthma and Anaphylaxis qualifications, or willingness to obtain

Child Safeguarding
The safety and wellbeing of children is the foundation of every placement we make. All candidates must hold a current Working With Children Check relevant to their state or territory and must consent to thorough background and referee screening. Firefly HR conducts detailed reference checks with a specific focus on professional conduct, ethical behaviour and child safety history. This is not a formality. If you are not fully committed to the safety and rights of every child in your care, please do not apply.

How to Apply
To apply, please submit your resume together with a short cover letter outlining your leadership experience and interest in the role.
