S & C AYLIFFE PTY LTD is seeking an experienced Painter to join our team on a full-time basis. This role is suitable for a skilled painter with experience in surface preparation, paint mixing, spray-painting, protective coatings and finishing work.
The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces, mixing paints and coatings, applying primers, paints and protective finishes, and completing touch-up and finishing work in accordance with project specifications and workplace safety requirements.
This role requires strong attention to detail, practical painting experience, safe handling of painting materials and the ability to work with brushes, rollers, airless spray-painting equipment and surface preparation tools.

Task & responsibilities
- Prepare surfaces for painting and protective coating application.
- Carry out sanding, masking, cleaning, scraping and general surface preparation.
- Remove old paint, rust, contaminants and surface imperfections to prepare surfaces for coating.
- Perform abrasive preparation or blasting where required.
- Mix primers, oil-based paints, two-pack coatings, topcoats and protective coatings in accordance with manufacturer specifications.
- Apply primers, paints, stains, oil-based coatings and protective finishes using brushes, rollers, spray equipment and other appropriate methods.
- Operate and maintain spray-painting, blasting and surface preparation equipment.
- Mask and protect surrounding areas, fittings and components prior to painting work.
- Perform touch-ups, polishing, finishing and rectification work to achieve required finish standards.
- Inspect completed work to ensure coating quality, appearance and durability meet required specifications.
- Follow workplace health and safety procedures when handling paints, solvents, coatings, chemicals and hazardous substances.
- Comply with WHS requirements for spray-painting environments, confined spaces and hazardous materials where applicable.
- Maintain tools, equipment and work areas in a clean, safe and organised condition.
- Complete all painting work in accordance with job specifications, company procedures, deadlines and quality standards.
Qualification & experience
- Relevant trade qualification preferred.
- At least 1-2 years of relevant experience in painting, surface preparation, spray-painting, coating application or finishing work.
- Experience with sanding, masking, cleaning, paint mixing and surface preparation.
- Experience applying paints, primers, varnishes, stains, oil-based paints, two-part coatings and protective finishes.
- Ability to use and maintain brushes, rollers, airless spray equipment and other painting tools.
- Good understanding of workplace health and safety requirements.
- Ability to work safely with paints, solvents, coatings, chemicals and hazardous materials.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to high-quality workmanship.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good communication and time-management skills.
