We are seeking a qualified and experienced Painting Trades Worker to join our team on a full-time basis, based in Adelaide, South Australia. The successful candidate will be responsible for preparing surfaces, applying paints, varnishes and other finishes, and carrying out a full range of painting and decorating work across residential and commercial sites.

Task & responsibilities

• Erect scaffolding and ladders and place drop sheets to protect adjacent areas from paint splattering
• Prepare surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper, fixing woodwork, filling holes and cracks, and smoothing and sealing surfaces
• Select and prepare paints to required colours by mixing portions of pigment, oil, and thinning and drying additives
• Apply paints, varnishes and stains to surfaces using brushes, rollers and spray equipment
• Hang wallpaper, match patterns and trim edges to a neat, professional finish
• Clean equipment and maintain work areas to a safe and tidy standard throughout the job
• Repair windows and replace glass in wooden and metal frames as required
• Lay and repair wall and floor tiles as required
• Apply paint, varnish, wallpaper and other finishes to protect, maintain and decorate surfaces of buildings and structures

Qualification & experience

• AQF Certificate III including at least two years of on-the-job training, or AQF Certificate IV in relevant field 
• Minimum 1 year of work experience of working with both residential and commercial sites
• Demonstrated experience as a Painting Trade Worker, Experience with wallpaper hanging and tiling
• Familiarity with colour matching and paint mixing systems
• Proficiency in preparation, brush, roller and spray application techniques
• Knowledge of OH&S requirements and safe work practices
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Valid driver's licence
