The Personal Care Assistant plays a vital role in providing compassionate, person-centred support to participants living with disabilities or health conditions. In this role, you will assist participants with personal care, daily living activities, and community engagement while promoting independence, dignity, and wellbeing.
You will support participants with tasks such as personal hygiene, mobility assistance, meal preparation, and medication reminders. The role also involves observing and monitoring participants’ physical and emotional wellbeing, maintaining accurate documentation, and working collaboratively with healthcare professionals, care managers, and care partners to ensure each participant’s individual care plan is delivered effectively.

Provide direct care and support to participants in both in-home and community settings.
Assist participants with personal care activities including showering, dressing, grooming, toileting, and mobility support.
Support participants with daily living activities such as meal preparation, light household tasks, and medication reminders.
Implement and follow individualised care plans developed in collaboration with healthcare professionals and care managers.
Encourage and support participants to engage in social, recreational, and community activities to promote independence and wellbeing.
Monitor participants’ physical, emotional, and social wellbeing and report any changes or concerns to the care manager or healthcare professionals.
Maintain accurate progress notes, participant records, and documentation in accordance with organisational and regulatory requirements.
Assist participants with rehabilitation exercises and encourage independence in everyday activities.
Maintain a safe, respectful, and supportive environment for participants at all times.
Use mobility aids safely and follow correct manual handling procedures when assisting participants.
Minimum Certificate III in Disability Services, Individual Support, Aged Care, or a related field (or higher qualification).
At least 12–24 months of experience in disability support, aged care, or community care services.
Valid Australian Driver’s Licence (essential).
Current industry clearances including NDIS Worker Screening Check, Working with Children Check, and First Aid/CPR (or willingness to obtain).
Strong commitment to confidentiality, duty of care, and accurate record-keeping.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including active listening.
Ability to problem-solve, use initiative, and respond appropriately to participant needs.
Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
