Volunteer Veterinarians – Pets In The Park Parramatta

Pets In The Park is a volunteer-led animal welfare charity providing free, monthly pop-up veterinary clinics for people experiencing homelessness who care for companion animals. Our mission is to support the human–animal bond by ensuring pets receive essential veterinary care, regardless of their owner’s financial circumstances.

The Pets In The Park Parramatta clinic is currently seeking friendly, reliable volunteer veterinarians to join our team and contribute their time at monthly clinic days. This is a highly collaborative role, working alongside a supportive group of veterinary and non-veterinary volunteers in a rewarding community-focused environment.

This opportunity is ideal for veterinarians who care deeply about both animal welfare and social impact, enjoy working in a team-based setting, and are looking for a flexible volunteer role that makes a tangible difference in the local community.

What you’ll be doing

As a volunteer veterinarian, you will be part of a small, dedicated clinical team providing essential veterinary care during our monthly pop-up clinics. Responsibilities may include:

• Consulting with clients in a compassionate and respectful manner
  • Conducting physical health examinations of dogs
  • Administering vaccinations and parasite prevention
  • Performing microchipping procedures
  • Performing basic diagnostics (e.g. skin & ear cytology)
  • Prescribing and dispensing basic medications
  • Assessing cases and identifying animals requiring further veterinary care
  • Supporting client education and strengthening trust and rapport
  • Collaborating closely with veterinary and non-veterinary volunteers to ensure smooth clinic flow

About you

• You are a registered veterinarian eligible to practice in New South Wales
  • You are passionate about animal welfare and supporting vulnerable members of the community
  • You communicate with empathy, professionalism, and respect
  • You are reliable, organised, and comfortable working in a team environment
  • You are able to contribute a few hours on a monthly clinic day
  • You enjoy working in a community-based, mobile clinic setting
