The Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join the Justice Health NSW Safeguards Team within Adolescent Forensic Mental Health.

The Safeguards Team is a dynamic, highly skilled, multidisciplinary service providing assessment, intervention, and care coordination to young people aged 10–18 across New South Wales.

The service supports young people experiencing complex mental health needs who are involved with, or at risk of involvement in, the criminal justice system (CJS), as well as those presenting in crisis or at risk of disengagement from services due to the complexity of their needs. This complexity may include neurodevelopmental differences, itinerancy, substance use, and/or risk of harm to self or others.

In this role, you will deliver timely, responsive, community-based mental health assessment and intervention for young people experiencing significant mental health complexity. Working within a multidisciplinary framework and guided by evidence-based practice, you will apply your discipline-specific expertise to contribute to comprehensive biopsychosocial formulations, inform interventions, care planning, and deliver coordinated, person-centred care aimed at improving outcomes for vulnerable young people.

About You

If you’re looking for a part-time opportunity within a supportive multidisciplinary team, this could be the role for you. You’re an experienced mental health clinician with relevant qualifications and clinical experience aligned to a CNS2 / OT3 / SW3 level, including experience working with young people and/or consumers with complex mental health, psychosocial and forensic needs. You will be confident working collaboratively across health, justice and community services, building strong stakeholder relationships and advocating for young people to ensure safe, coordinated and person-centred outcomes.

Essential Requirements

• Allied Health Staff (OT3; SW3) - Bachelor of Occupational Therapy registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or relevant qualification in Social Work with eligibility for membership to Australian Association of Social Workers. To be appointed as a Level 3 Health Professional, evidence must be provided of three years' clinical experience and demonstrated experience of extensive specialist knowledge or a high level of broad generalist knowledge within the discipline as defined by the award definitions of a Level 3 practitioner.
• Nursing Staff (CNS2) - Qualified as a Registered Nurse with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia with post-registration qualifications relevant to the position, with a minimum of at least 3 years' full time equivalent experience in the management of clients with mental health conditions.
• Valid unrestricted Driver Licence for use in NSW and Australia.
• Valid NSW Employee Working With Children Check.
• Responsibilities under WHS - Non-Supervisor: You must take all reasonable care for yourself and others and comply with any reasonable instruction, policies and procedures relating to work health, safety and wellbeing.

• May require extended hours during the week and on weekend. May be required to travel to regional NSW sites to provide in-reach.
