You will lead a team of sales leaders and sales brokers across our Sydney and Melbourne offices in addition to our UW support function. Reporting directly to the GM of life insurance you will be central to executing our sales/budget plans and achieving our monthly sales targets.
The Sales Manager leads a portfolio of teams to deliver commercial outcomes and excellent customer results. The role translates strategy into day-to-day execution through Team Leaders, driving forecast-to-target, coaching discipline, performance management and adoption of changes.
Your Key Deliverables
- Consistent delivery to plan (and where feasible, above plan), QA/Compliance and CX.
- Strong forecast to target discipline with timely recovery actions when performance gaps emerge.
- Elevate Team Leader and Agent capability: faster time to competence, improved retention, and a visible leadership pipeline.
- Clean sales disciplines: strong call quality, low complaints.
- Approved changes landed with strong on sales floor adoption and measured uplift.
Key Responsibilities
Execution Leadership and Operating Rhythm - Translate GM plan into weekly execution: pacing, capacity and priorities.
- Run scorecards/WBR cadence; diagnose drivers; drive recovery actions to close gaps.
- Partner with Sales Ops/QA/Data/Marketing/Product; ensure adoption through Team Leaders.
Leader Development (Coach-the-Coach) - Develop Team Leaders: coaching quality, standards-setting and performance discipline.
- Calibrate expectations and performance across teams.
- Build a succession pipeline (Senior Agent -> TL _> SM).
Performance, Quality and Compliance - Lead QA/calibrations and link defects to coaching plans.
- Manage complaints/escalations and implement fixes with Team Leaders.
- Maintain audit-ready documentation and decision records.
Workforce and Talent - Support hiring and onboarding with structured selection and ramp checkpoints.
- Own day-to-day staffing rhythm through Team Leaders.
- Drive retention and engagement actions; address hotspots early.
Desired Experience and Qualifications - Deep understanding of Retail life insurance product and process (Required)
- RG 146 General Knowledge and RG 147 General Knowledge in Super
- 5+ years leading sales teams in a phone-based environment; experience managing Team Leaders.
- Strong commercial acumen and data literacy; forecasting and capacity planning capability.
- Demonstrated ability to lift performance through coaching systems.
- Strong stakeholder management and clear communication.
- Experience with contact centre platforms and CRMs.
