What does it take to reset and lead a modern security engineering function? Step into a role where you don’t just maintain security—you challenge it, rethink it, and rebuild it for what’s next. As part of our Security and Engineering team, you’ll lead a nationally distributed team and drive the uplift of core security capabilities across cloud and enterprise environments.

How you'll be part of the action

Reporting to the Head of Security Operations and Engineering, you’ll lead a team of six engineers across Australia, balancing strong people leadership with hands-on technical delivery. You’ll take ownership of both business-as-usual operations and strategic uplift, bringing structure, challenging the status quo, and execute a clear plan to integrate security engineering across Tabcorp.

• Lead and rebuild a national team of security engineers across multiple locations
• Balance resource allocation across BAU support, incident response, and project delivery
• Design and implement security baselines across cloud and enterprise environments
• Oversee security tooling including endpoint protection, privileged access, and firewalls
• Act as senior escalation point, supporting incident response and on-call requirements
• Drive automation, consistency, and continuous improvement across engineering workflows

What you'll need to succeed

You’re a hands-on security leader who brings equal strength in people leadership and technical depth. You’re comfortable stepping into a team, challenging existing approaches, and delivering a clear, structured plan to lift capability and maturity. You know how to balance operational delivery with long-term improvement and bring others with you along the way.

• Proven experience leading and developing security engineering teams
• Strong hands-on capability across security engineering tools and platforms
• Demonstrated experience designing and implementing security baselines and controls
• Deep experience across endpoint protection, privileged access, firewalls, and cloud-native controls
• Proven ability to manage distributed teams and balance BAU with project delivery
• Confident in challenging existing ways of working and executing practical improvements
