About the Role
At the Queensland Performing Arts Centre (QPAC), the Venue Security Officer plays a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment for patrons, employees, artists, and stakeholders. Working in a high-traffic public venue, the role combines strong security operations with a customer focused approach.
Operating within a dynamic environment, you will use sound judgement and situational awareness to identify and respond to risks, while supporting safe event operations and a positive visitor experience.
As a Venue Security Officer, you will:
Maintain situational awareness across QPAC venues, identifying and responding to potential risks and security concerns
Respond to incidents, disturbances, and emergencies, providing initial incident control where required
Provide close personal protection support for VIPs, artists, and key stakeholders when required
Monitor and operate security systems including CCTV, access control, and alarms
Support safe crowd movement and manage risks within high-density environments
Identify and assess risks, vulnerabilities, and behavioural indicators to support proactive, intelligence led security practices
Deliver a professional, calm, and customer focused presence across all interactions
Build effective working relationships with internal teams and external agencies, including emergency services
Provide first response and first aid assistance as required
About You
You are an experienced security professional with strong situational awareness, capable of making sound, timely decisions in dynamic environments.
You are calm, professional, and proactive, with a strong sense of accountability and teamwork. You are confident managing challenging situations and able to de-escalate conflict while maintaining safety and control.
You will bring:
Significant experience in security operations, emergency response, or a related field
Demonstrated ability to manage incidents and make sound decisions under pressure
Experience working in high-volume or public-facing environments
Strong situational awareness and risk assessment capabilities
Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills
Proven ability to balance safety, compliance, and customer service
Essential Requirements
Minimum 5 years’ experience in security operations, emergency management, law enforcement, or similar
Current Queensland Security Licence (Class 1 – Crowd Control, Monitoring, Bodyguard preferred)
Current First Aid certification (HLTAID011 and CPR)
Valid Driver’s Licence (Class C)
