About the role
We are seeking experienced candidates for an EL2 Senior Financial Planner position with our Commonwealth Government client in Canberra, ACT. The successful candidate will support Group budget position with critical financial analysis, modelling and forecasting for current and future financial years, as well as navigating complex financial records and decision-making to achieve long-term high performance and strong portfolio health.
An initial 12-month labour hire contract is on offer, with the possibility of extension up to 24 months.
Please note: the successful candidate must be an Australian citizen and have the ability to obtain a Baseline security clearance.
Duties:

Analyse, interpret, evaluate and report on operational, administered and project outcomes.

Build and maintain effective working relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders, including regular liaison and negotiation.

Develop, manage and enhance resource management and financial governance policies, and accounting practices, in line with the Commonwealth Resource Management Framework and statutory reporting requirements.

Make informed and balanced decisions using sound professional judgement, with an understanding of the broader strategic environment.

Monitor compliance and provide assurance to senior stakeholders and audit bodies on legislative requirements, resource management, financial governance and reporting.

Provide independent assessments and strategic recommendations on future budget positions, including revenue, expenditure, funding and capital pressures.

Provide timely, high-level financial management advice on a range of business and operational matters.
Requisite skills/experience:

Demonstrated high-level experience managing finances within government or large-scale organisations.

Strong understanding of the Public Governance, Performance and Accountability (PGPA) Act and Commonwealth financial regulatory framework, including appropriations, internal controls and assurance obligations.

Relevant qualifications or credentials in governance, audit, project management or data analytics (desirable).

Experience using Financial Management Information Systems, preferably SAP and SAP BW/BI.

Extensive financial management experience, including delivery of complex financial and governance outcomes.
