Riello UPS Australia Pty Ltd is seeking a suitably qualified and experienced Electrical Engineering Technician /Service Technician to join our technical services team. The successful candidate will assist Electrical Engineers in the installation, commissioning, testing, maintenance, and repair of Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems and associated electrical power protection equipment.

Task & responsibilities

Duties

  • Install, commission, and configure UPS systems and associated electrical components at client sites and workshops.
  • Test and verify system performance against technical specifications and operational requirements.
  • Perform routine and remedial maintenance on UPS systems, including battery replacements, fault diagnostics, and component repairs.
  • Assemble, modify, and test electrical equipment in accordance with engineering drawings and technical manuals.
  • Assist in adapting and improving systems to meet client-specific requirements.
  • Conduct inspections and functional testing to ensure equipment complies with operational, safety, and quality standards.
  • Prepare and maintain detailed maintenance and service reports documenting all technical work performed.

 

Responsibilities

  • Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve technical faults to minimize system downtime.
  • Provide expert technical support for service operations regionally, interstate, and internationally as required.
  • Liaise with engineers, clients, and internal teams to resolve complex technical issues.
  • Ensure all work activities comply with workplace health and safety (WHS) policies, safety procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Promote a culture of safety and proactive risk management in all service operations.
  • Maintain and update technical knowledge, skills, and certifications to ensure high standards of workmanship and operational efficiency.
  • Contribute to process improvements, efficiency initiatives, and quality enhancements within the team.

Qualification & experience

  • AQF Diploma or Advanced Diploma in Electrical Engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or related field, OR at least three (3) years of relevant work experience may substitute for formal qualifications
  • Minimum one (1) year of recent full-time professional experience in an electrical engineering technician or similar role
  • Valid Australian driver’s licence.
  • Be driven and self-motivated, able to work autonomously, and be part of a professional team in a collaborative environment.
  • Excellent communication and relationship management skills with highly developed planning and analytical skills.
  • Experience preferably with power electronics.
  • Proficient in computer applications and software relevant to electrical engineering tasks.
  • Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills.
  • Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical documentation.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to safety.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.
  • Reliable, punctual, and able to work independently and in the field.
