Software Engineer
Full-time Melbourne
We're building at the intersection of great software engineering and applied AI. This is a full-stack role where you'll ship features end-to-end — and equally work on shaping how AI becomes part of our product.
About the role
We're looking for a Software Engineer who is comfortable across the stack and curious about what AI can do in a real product. You'll work on backend services, frontend interfaces, and increasingly on integrating AI models into the features our customers use every day.
You won't be siloed. One sprint you might be designing a REST API, the next you're wiring up an LLM to power a new product experience. We care more about sound engineering instincts and a willingness to learn than a narrow specialty.
What you'll work on
Build and maintain backend services, APIs, and data pipelines
Develop responsive, accessible frontend interfaces
Integrate AI/LLM APIs (e.g. OpenAI, Anthropic, Gemini) into product features
Design prompts and orchestration logic for AI-powered workflows
Collaborate in agile sprints with a small, senior team
Monitor, evaluate, and improve AI feature quality over time
What we're looking for
Solid experience in backend development (e.g. Node.js, PHP, Python, or similar)
Comfortable with modern frontend frameworks (React, Vue, or similar)
Strong database design and architecture experience
Hands-on experience — or genuine enthusiasm — for working with AI/LLM APIs
Strong fundamentals: clean code, testing, sensible system design
Ability to take ownership of a feature from scoping to shipping
Clear communicator who enjoys working in small, cross-functional teams
Nice to have
Experience with prompt engineering, RAG, or AI agent patterns
Familiarity with vector databases (Pinecone, Weaviate, pgvector)
Exposure to streaming APIs and handling AI latency in production
Prior work in a product-led startup or scale-up environment
