We are seeking an experienced State Sports Development Officer to support the delivery and growth of basketball development programs across NSW.

Task & responsibilities

Sports Development & Program Delivery

• Develop and deliver basketball participation and development programs for youth athletes aged 6–18.

• Support the implementation of structured basketball training programs aligned with NBA Basketball School curriculum standards.

• Assist with expanding basketball participation through programs delivered in schools, clubs and community organisations.

• Monitor program delivery to ensure consistent coaching standards and positive participant experiences.

Coaching Support & Workforce Development

• Assist with the recruitment, onboarding and support of basketball coaches delivering programs across the state.

• Contribute to coach education initiatives and internal training sessions.

• Provide guidance and feedback to coaches to maintain program quality and consistency.

Player Development

• Support the development of youth athletes through structured basketball skills programs and training sessions.

• Assist with basketball clinics, development camps and specialised training activities.

• Promote safe, inclusive and positive sporting environments for all participants.

Program Operations & Events

• Assist with the coordination of basketball development programs including venue scheduling, equipment preparation and session logistics.

• Support the delivery of basketball events, tournaments and development activities.

• Maintain participation records and assist with program reporting where required.

Stakeholder Engagement

• Build relationships with schools, basketball clubs and community organisations involved in program delivery.

• Represent the organisation at basketball development initiatives and community sport activities.

• Work collaboratively with internal teams to support the growth of basketball participation programs.

Qualification & experience

• Bachelor’s degree (or higher) in sports management, sports science, coaching or a related field.

• Minimum 5 years’ experience delivering basketball development programs or coaching youth athletes.

• Experience working within organised basketball environments such as clubs, academies or development programs.

• Strong understanding of basketball development pathways and international basketball systems.

• Demonstrated ability to support coach development and program delivery.

• Strong organisational, communication and stakeholder management skills.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams).

• Fluent English required.

Additional Requirements

• Ability to work evenings and weekends when required.

• Domestic and occasional international travel may be required.
