Position Purpose
The Trainee Early Childhood Educator supports qualified educators in providing a safe, nurturing, and stimulating environment for children from birth to 3 years of age. While completing a recognised early childhood qualification, the trainee will develop practical skills and knowledge to support children's learning, development, wellbeing, and care.
Key Responsibilities
Child Care and Supervision
Assist in providing high-quality care and supervision for children aged birth to 3 years.
Support children's individual routines, including feeding, sleeping, nappy changing, and comfort needs.
Build warm, responsive, and respectful relationships with children.
Ensure children's health, safety, and wellbeing are maintained at all times.
Learning and Development
Assist educators in implementing the educational program.
Engage children in age-appropriate play experiences and learning opportunities.
Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development.
Observe children's interests and participate in discussions about learning and development.
Health, Safety and Hygiene
Follow all service policies and procedures relating to health, hygiene, supervision, and child protection.
Maintain clean and hygienic learning environments.
Assist with daily cleaning, sanitising, and room preparation tasks.
Follow safe sleep and rest practices in accordance with service policies and current guidelines.
Teamwork and Professionalism
Work collaboratively with educators and management.
Participate in training, mentoring, and professional development opportunities.
Demonstrate a willingness to learn and accept feedback.
Maintain confidentiality and professionalism at all times.
Family Partnerships
Greet families in a friendly and professional manner.
Support positive relationships between families and the service.
Communicate respectfully with families under the guidance of senior educators.
Essential Requirements
Enrolled in or willing to enrol in a Certificate III in Early Childhood Education and Care.
Current Working With Children Check.
Commitment to child safety and wellbeing.
Genuine interest in working with infants and toddlers.
Ability to work as part of a team.
Reliable, punctual, and willing to learn.
Minimum age requirement of 18 years.
