What Ability, this role is known as an “Area Manager”, reflecting the responsibility for a local group of participants and team members. About the Role This is a hands-on leadership role supporting the day-to-day coordination of a local team delivering disability support in the community.

You’ll work closely with participants, families, and support workers to ensure services run smoothly, safely, and in line with participant goals. The role combines people leadership, rostering, coordination, and problem solving, making it ideal for someone who enjoys working with people and thrives in a fast-paced environment. This role is well suited to someone with experience in disability services who enjoys coordinating teams and building strong relationships.

Key Responsibilities Support and guide a team of participants and support workers within your local area Coordinate day-to-day rostering and scheduling to ensure participant needs are met

Build positive relationships with participants and their families Provide coaching, feedback, and day-to-day support to support workers Ensure support plans and key documentation are current and understood by staff

Respond to incidents, changes, or challenges in a timely and professional manner Support recruitment, onboarding, and training of new support workers Maintain accurate records of participant interactions and team communications

Work closely with senior leaders on service improvements and team development A Day in the Role Reviewing progress notes and closing out previous day bookings

Managing rostering updates and filling gaps as they arise Following up on incidents, ensuring actions and escalations are completed Responding to urgent operational and service-related queries

Communicating with participants, families, and support workers Making check-in calls to maintain service quality and resolve issues Coordinating information across systems, staff, and stakeholders

You’re someone who enjoys working with people, building relationships, and helping teams succeed. You may have experience as a Support Worker, Team Leader, or in a coordination or rostering role, and you’re ready to take the next step in your career. We’re looking for someone who is:

Demonstrated experience working as a Disability Support Worker, Community Support Worker, or in a similar participant-facing role within the NDIS, community services, or health sector Proven ability to provide hands-on, person-centred support, including assisting with daily living, personal care, and skill development Experience supporting participants to access the community, build independence, and engage in social and recreational activities

Strong understanding of person-centred practice, participant choice, dignity of risk, and promoting independence Experience building relationships with participants and families, including providing emotional support, guidance, and advocacy Ability to assess participant needs and contribute to the development and implementation of individualised support plans

Experience working with a range of participants, including those with complex needs, behavioural support requirements, or varying levels of independence Demonstrated ability to liaise with support workers, families, and external providers to deliver coordinated and consistent care Strong communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with participants, families, and multidisciplinary teams

Experience mentoring or guiding other support workers, or providing informal leadership within a team (desirable) Ability to manage documentation and maintain accurate participant records in line with NDIS and organisational requirements High level of reliability, adaptability, and problem-solving skills in dynamic support environments
