Duramen Designs is looking for an experienced and motivated Workshop Manager to join our growing team.

This role is ideal for someone who has strong hands on experience in custom furniture and joinery manufacturing, while also having the ability to lead a team and manage workflow within a fast paced workshop environment.

We are looking for someone who can take ownership of workshop operations, maintain quality control, manage staff direction and ensure projects are completed on time and to a high standard.

The successful applicant will primarily be on the tools 5 days per week, while also assisting with workshop management, scheduling and team coordination. Depending on workflow and project demands, there may also be time spent in the office managing programming, customer communication and production planning.

The Role

• Hands on furniture and joinery manufacturing
• Managing and directing workshop staff
• Programming and scheduling workshop works
• Organising materials, hardware and gear lists
• Ensuring projects are completed on time and to the Duramen standard
• Maintaining workshop organisation and workflow efficiency
• Problem solving and assisting with production planning
• Liaising with management regarding deadlines and upcoming works
• Communicating with customers throughout the build process
• Meeting and assisting customers visiting the workshop
• Managing customer questions, updates and concerns in a professional manner

What We’re Looking For

• Extensive experience in furniture manufacturing and joinery
• Ability to independently build custom furniture from start to finish
• Strong leadership and communication skills
• Confidence dealing directly with customers and representing the business professionally
• Ability to manage a team and maintain productivity
• Experience reading plans and working from detailed drawings
• High attention to detail and pride in workmanship
• Ability to stay organised and keep projects moving efficiently
• Current driver’s licence
