The Opportunity

Steelcraft Framing is one of South East Queensland's leading steel framing manufacturers, supplying frames and trusses to volume and custom builders across the region. We are growing and we are investing in the team that makes the operation run.

The Yardman role is one of the most important roles in the factory. Production can build great frames, but if the load doesn't go out on time, complete and accurate, the builder feels the pain and so does our reputation. This role owns that outcome.

Reporting to the Production Manager, you'll own dispatch staging, accessory pack preparation, coil management and the day-to-day flow of materials through the yard. You'll work closely with our drivers, supervisors and machine operators to keep production fed and customers satisfied.

Day shift runs Monday to Friday, 5am to 1:26pm. Afternoon shift is also available. Both are well supported and equally important to the operation.

What You Will Own

• Early-morning loading, day shift starts at 5am and trucks are out the gate on time

• Picking, packing and staging of outbound loads, accurate, on time, every time

• Accessory pack preparation, complete and clearly labelled before dispatch

• Receiving inbound deliveries including steel coils, checked, recorded and stored correctly

• Stock management at machines, keeping production materials supplied without stoppage

• Accurate, real-time task management in Steelcraft Group software

• Strong shift-to-shift handover between day and afternoon yard operations

• 5S standards and a presentation-ready yard at all times

About You

• Current LF forklift licence, non-negotiable

• Comfortable with an early start, day shift runs 5am to 1:26pm

• Confident handling steel coils, heavy materials and structural components

• Strong attention to detail when checking loads and accessory packs against documentation

• Disciplined planner, you stage work ahead, not on the run

• Reliable, accountable and consistent, show up, do the work, do it right

• Comfortable using digital systems to track and close tasks

• Communicates clearly and escalates issues early

Steel framing or construction supply experience is valued but not essential. Trade attitude, safety discipline and ownership of outcomes matter more.

• You take shortcuts on safety when no one is watching

• You're comfortable letting paperwork slip and catching up "later"

• You think near-enough is good enough on a load that's about to leave

• You don't take ownership when something goes wrong

• You can't keep a yard organised under pressure
